divinemoon:

Tobacco

Tobacco is used as a divination tool by spiritists, being one of the most effective since it manages to relax and connect securely to the medium with their spirits, and at the same time purifies and unifies the spiritual energy which develops the investigation or spiritual cleansing.

There are many people who practice and interpret both the smoke as well as the ashes of tobacco, regardless of their social, cultural and economic level, those that have discoverd the pleasures of tobacco both psychic and spiritual have found is satisfying for purification as well as carrying out the ritual of the tobacco.

In this case we speak of the link between tobacco and the Osha rule, the first thing we must remember is that there can be no Coronation of Osha without before-having a deep spiritual investigation, which is carried out by a Santero-Espiritista, or a Spiritist who is already developed, such research or spiritual mass must be channeled through candlesessences, tobacco, flowers, and brandy. Once the tobacco smoke is used to purify the environment and call Egun is when it focuses and develops mass that will order the spiritual court of the initiate, so then not any any of their protective spirits or spirit guides stumble in their path.

Tobacco is an important element for the Orishas warriors, as Eleggua that opens and closes all roads, Oggun owner strength and metals, relentless Hunter Ochosi, Chango father of the religion and tireless Warrior and Oya the owner of the cemetery, and mother of the Egun, Eleggua ceremonies we can observe that most of the time tobacco is present before, during and after, because even the day of the environment, during the feast of celebration, we can see all the guests with a cigar in hand, also happens with Ochosi and Oggun.

Oya children are always accompanied by tobacco, since as we have said before, Oya or Yanza is the mother of all Egun and them give them moforibale (homage) before the coronation of one of her children, and the best way is through the smoke of tobacco, in the same way, we can point out that tobacco is a powerful weapon when used for Chango it is a way to overcome the spiritual or earthly wars, smoking a fine tobacco to Chango our father to wake you up and tell you all our vicissitudes, in the ceremonies of Babalu Aye tobacco is protagonist is used as incense and as a catalyst of all energies coming down to Earth.

For Eleggua, Oggun and Babalu Aye, it is imperative to blow them enough smoke to request their help. This is what most pleases them and what calls them to work.

LGBT-specific measure passed by 15-11 vote margin.

If you follow LGBT specific news closely, you might have heard that Puerto Rico passed a bill which would ban discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and government services based off gender or sexual orientation. It’s a big step for LGBT equality in Puerto Rico, although you might find it shocking (like I did) that such a law didn’t already exist there.

Following the example of the U.S. Government, however, something passed in the PR Senate only to get stalled in the House. Making things worse for the passage of this common-sense legislation is that it is being blocked by members of the very same party that proposed the bill to begin with. What is sad (so sad I can only laugh about it) is that one of the five members opposing it is none other than my dear (sarcasm) step-mom, who happens to sit as the chair of the women and equality committee (to make things worse).

Although since then she has changed her vote to approve it, it’s absurd she had to get her arm twisted by the governor of PR to get her act together. Due to these events I’ve spent most of my morning tracking the news and reading the backlash this woman has received through twitter (some of which is actually really funny). However, I don’t appreciate her associating our last name with her backwards reasoning for opposing this legislation in the first place. No real Arraras is an enemy of equality.

Because those who oppress know that you can’t make a person hate the root without making them hate the tree. You can’t hate your own and not end up hating yourself.
I don’t understand this logic. Lets deny formerly incarcerated folks food stamps, which is often their only means of income because they can’t find work, so that they do less crime when the only reason they were incarcerated in the first place was for just trying to survive.
